URBANA — A Champaign man who admitted selling cocaine near a park in Urbana last year has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Jonte L. Jones, 30, who listed an address in the 0-100 block of East Beardsley Avenue, pleaded guilty Thursday before Judge Tom Difanis to unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
He admitted that on May 9, he sold less than a gram of cocaine to a person at the corner of Philo Road and Florida Avenue, which is within 1,000 feet of Crestview Park. The charge was a Class 1 felony.
A co-defendant, Ronald L. Smith, 41, of Champaign, pleaded guilty to the same charge in July and was sentenced to six years in prison.
