HOOPESTON – Eunice Gladys Thompson, 91, of Hoopeston passed away at 10:05 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 3, 2013) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
She was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Burksville, Ky., the daughter of James and Edna (Ward) Thacker. She married Glenn Ross Thompson on Oct. 23, 1941, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2007.
She is survived by two daughters, Trudy (Leon) Anderson of Hoopeston and Shannon (Juan) Acosta of Hoopeston; five grandchildren, Michelle Castellano, Bradley Garner, Elecia, Isabell and Bradley Acosta; four great-grandchildren, Mollie, Sabrina, Glenn and Ellie Castellano; one niece, Teddia Gauges of Danville; two nephews and one special nephew, Jeremy Salter of Danville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jean Smith; and one brother, Ted Gauges.
Mrs. Thompson was a hairdresser in her earlier years and later took care of her family as a stay-at-home mom. She and her husband Glenn enjoyed working at the Conservation Club in Hoopeston. She also helped with the Share Food Program in Hoopeston and enjoyed making crafts.
A private family service will be held and per her wishes she will be cremated and her ashes will be spread by her family.
