CHAMPAIGN — Champaign County sheriff's deputies are looking for the person who broke in a home in west Champaign Sunday and made off with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.
Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Dan Coile said a couple living in the 1900 block of Moraine Drive was gone from their home several hours during the afternoon and evening and returned to find a door standing open.
The residents discovered an iPad and multiple pieces of jewelry, including black onyx earrings, pearl earrings, gold nedcklaces, and a diamond pendant had been stolen. The residents valued the items at $10,600, Coile said.
