URBANA – Leon Paul Forristall, 73, of Urbana died at 9:34 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 10, 2013) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 19, 2013) at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2602 Bloomington Road, Champaign, with David Field officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 18, 1939, in Malden, the son of Leroy and Evelyn Fenwick Forristall. He married Judy Russell on Sept. 7, 1960, and to this union were born two children. He later married Susie M. Barrow on April 25, 1976, in Gibson City.
Surviving are his wife, Susie Forristall of Urbana; a daughter, Janelle (Bruce) Curless of Mount Vernon; a son, Robert (Sheila) Forristall of Bluford; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ronald Forristall of Dixon and William (Irene) Forristall of Amboy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Leon graduated from Eureka College and was an elementary school teacher prior to his retirement. He was an active member of the Champaign West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 44 years.
Leon had a passion for gardening and flowers. He was known by his friends and family as a master chef and will be remembered for his pumpkin and pecan pies.
