SAVOY – Celebration of life services for Edith H. Knippel, 77, of Savoy will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 18, at Community United Church of Christ, 805 S. Sixth Street, Champaign.
The family will greet friends at the church one hour before the service.
The Rev. Leah Robberts-Mosser will officiate.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Monee.
Mrs. Knippel passed away at 1:05 a.m. Monday (Jan. 14, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
She was born March 18, 1935, in Evansville, Ind., a daughter of Holton and Cathryn (Delahanty) Sackett. She married Elvis Theodore Knippel on July 20, 1967, in Monee. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey S. (Elizabeth A.) Brown of Belvidere; a daughter, Deborah (Joseph A.) DiPietro of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Almeda (Stan) Ballard of Evansville; grandchildren, Adie Brown, Jennifer E. Brown, Christopher D. Brown, Robyn (Tim) Wells, Joseph (Georgia) DiPietro and Rose (Matt Moroni) DiPietro; great-grandchildren, Lily, Ben, Abigail and Rebekah Wells and Jack, Connor and Luke Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Robin R. Brown; and two sisters, Kitty Bent and Marie Evans.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Knippel was employed as a secretary at Community United Church of Christ.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, baking and hosting weekend poker games.
