SAVOY — Busey Bank will close four branches — including its Savoy branch — on April 15, bank spokesman Amy Randolph said Wednesday.
Other branches that will close at the end of that business day include the Fort Jesse Road branch in Normal, the Ash Avenue branch in Decatur and the branch in Pekin.
Randolph said the bank recently studied all its branches in terms of transactions, deposits and loans and concluded Savoy customers could be served by other Busey branches and automated-teller machines.
"There's an increasing trend in mobile banking and ATMs," she said.
Savoy customers will be assigned to the Busey branch at 909 W. Kirby Ave., C, but will be able to use any of the 13 remaining branches in Champaign County, Randolph said.
Employees of the Savoy office will be able to apply for other positions within Busey that come open, she added.
The branch at 108 Arbours Drive, Savoy, opened in 1983 as a branch of Citizens Bank of Tolono. It was acquired by First Busey Corp. in 1985 and merged into Busey Bank six years later.
In 2009, Busey closed its offices in Thomasboro and at 200 E. Sangamon Ave. in Rantoul.
