CHAMPAIGN – Dr. Esmail Meisami, 70, of Champaign passed away at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 22, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Dr. Esmail Meisami was born on Nov. 19, 1942, in Tehran, Iran. He was the son of Gholamreza and Sedigheh. He was a professor of molecular and integrative physiology at the molecular and cellular biology department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He is survived by his wife, Nooshin; daughters, Mona and Ayda; grandchildren, Miryam, and Mark; brother, Abas; and sister, Mahboubeh.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 611 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Champaign. A memorial will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Illini Room A and B in the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana.
