For Christmas, Rob and I got a got a subscription to Old House Interiors.
Our April 2013 issue just arrived, and in it is an article about kitchen curtains.
One of the kitchens pictured had adorable red and white polka dot curtains, '50s style cabinets featuring adorable red hardware and white subway tile with a red border. It's a color scheme I love.
I knew I had to see more of that kitchen, and I found some more photos and an entire article about it [3]on the www.oldhouseonline.com [4] website. The photos are by Gross & Daley.
Turns out, the kitchen features custom cabinets and a restored stove, the counter is a reproduction and the linoleum is new.
Honestly, though, if I ever end up owning a house with a 1950s kitchen, I'm going to remember this one. Isn't it adorable?

I love the chickens. I would have a whole collection if others were more tolerant. I just don't know what the problem is. I think they are cute. As far as that towel on the stove goes, I think I have a matching tablecloth.
Hah, that's a perfect example that decorating decisions are often a compromise. Maybe you should dig out that tablecloth, though!
I have the same issue regarding a lot of my stuff - because I like rustic outdoorsy stuff. That seems to always be squeezed into a corner or closet somewhere, but I have been promised that it can be used "when we get more space." We've moved twice since that time, and we still don't seem to have enough space for my stuff. I'm not holding my breath.
You have to make space, clear out a few things...wink wink.
