Let me run that by you again - homemade peanut butter. I've made a few things from scratch , but nothing as mind-blowing - or as simple - as this.
Here's how to make your own. Take peanuts (Cassandra shelled three pounds of roasted peanuts from Fortino's Gourmet in Grand Haven, Mich., for hers ). Put them in your food processor. Process them until they're really smooth (it may take a few minutes), and then store your peanut butter in a clean jar.
There are photos and much more detailed instructions on this blog , called Averie Cooks. That's where Cassandra got the idea. She said she wants to try making almond butter next.
I don't know that I will make my own peanut butter - but I like knowing that I can.
