NEWARK – Mervin L. Osmond, 89, of Newark passed peacefully on to his new life Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2013) at Morris Hospital.
A family visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home, 1009 E. Bluff St., Marseilles, Ill. Public visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Fox River Lutheran Church on U.S. 52 near the junction with 71. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Kevin Garner officiating. Interment will be in Fox River Cemetery.
M.L. Osmond was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Lisbon, first born to Louis H. and Mabel B. (Classon) Osmond. He married Doris A. Stangeland on Dec. 2, 1944, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa. She passed away on April 24, 2001.
Mervin owned a commercial and residential building construction company until he was 72 in the areas of Ottawa, Ill., Monticello, Ind., Valparaiso, Ind., and Fort Walton Beach, Fla., until retiring in Newark near his family.
He is survived by a son, Leonard (Jennifer) Osmond of Avon, Colo.; daughters, Doreen (Vincent) Gregory of Overland Park, Kan., Karen (Thomas) Arnett of Destin, Fla., and Joan Hodson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers.
