URBANA — A 15-year-old girl died Sunday evening at Carle Foundation Hospital from injuries she received in an accident last week in Crawford County.
Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said Madison Brock, 15, of Palestine was pronounced dead at 6:51 p.m. Sunday in Carle's surgical intensive care unit.
Northrup said Madison died from complications from multiple traumatic injuries she received in a crash.
The teen was the second person to die as a result of the accident.
According to a state police report, Madison was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her mother, Angela G. Brock, 48, of Palestine.
Angela Brock was driving west on Illinois 33 about a half-mile west of Palestine in Crawford County at 5:43 p.m. Jan. 31 when her vehicle slid sideways on a patch of ice and crossed into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Sean M. Redman, 22, of Robinson.
Redman's vehicle hit the passenger side of the Brock vehicle, according to police.
While Madison was taken to Carle, her mother was taken to Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, where she was pronounced dead.
Northrup said Angela Brock died from injuries she received in the crash.
Redman was taken to Deaconess Hospital. No information was available on his condition Monday night.
State police said no tickets had been issued in connection with the incident as of Monday night.
The crash is under investigation by the Crawford and Champaign county coroner's offices and the state police.
