For Christmas, I crocheted our niece a picnic basket [3] and some play food.
She had a birthday recently, so I figured I'd add to her toy food collection.
I
[4] made her some crochet chocolate sandwich cookies [5] and a couple of slices of watermelon [6], because these are excellent picnic foods.
I also made three small carrots [7] and three tiny heads of cabbage [8] for her beloved toy bunnies.
I wanted to keep the toy food for the toy rabbits together, since all the pieces were fairly small. I decided to put it in a clear plastic container that once held items I bought at Beachy's Bulk Food.
Then, I realized it should be labeled.
I used images of a frame and a rabbit from The Graphics Fairy [9], an amazing website full of royalty-free images. I found exactly what I was looking for there.
I put the rabbit inside the frame, and typed the words "Rabbit Food" in Kelmscott Roman [10] font.
[11]I printed it, laminated it and cut it out. I then used hot glue to attach it to the plastic container. It was pretty cute, and I like that it's also child-friendly. (For about two seconds, I considered using a mason jar and realized that would be a bad idea for a 2-year-old.)
Ahhh, I love a simple solution that you can easily make yourself.
Also, if anyone wants to use this label, email me [12] and I'll send it right over. I had a heck of a time finding a pre-made printable rabbit food label, so if I can share this one, I'd be happy to.
