URBANA — The Asian American Cultural Center is celebrating the Lunar New Year with an art exhibit featuring work by 80 young artists from the Hua Nian Art Studio in Urbana.
"Vibrant Colors of Lunar New Year" opened Feb. 1 and will remain on view through April 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, at the center, 1210 W. Nevada St.
The Lunar New Year is the most important festival celebrated by many Asian cultures. The celebrations take place for 15 days in recognition of the coming of the new year. This year will be the year of the snake, one of the animals represented in a 12-year cycle.
