SADORUS — Village officials are making sure families who want their children to play soccer don't have to pay an out-of-district fee.
The village board this week voted to reimburse $30 per family to take part in the Rocket soccer program through the Tolono Park District. The park district runs the program for almost 200 children from Tolono, Sidney, Philo, Pesotum and Sadorus.
"With costs escalating, we're going to have to raise fees and charge out-of-district fees," Tolono Park District President Randy Grace said.
The reimbursement will mean that Sadorus families will not have to pay the $30 out-of-district fee, which includes both spring and fall soccer. The spring program is open to children in fifth through eighth grades, and the fall program is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Sign-ups will be held in late February and early March for spring soccer. After sign-ups, the park district will let the village know how many children are in the program; eight participated last year.
There is also a sign-up fee for each child.
