DANVILLE – Harold Wayne Esworthy, 81, of Danville passed away at 8:27 a.m. Friday (Feb. 8, 2013) in his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams St. in Danville with Pastor Drew Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Pape's. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
Harold was born June 6, 1931, in Danville, to Albert and Lena (Threasher) Esworthy.
He attended Bismarck grade school and high school, and then began his career at Meadow Gold Dairy in the production line. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served during the Korean conflict, and was discharged in 1955. Upon his return, Harold resumed working at Meadow Gold Dairy, retiring in 1990 after 40 years.
In his free time Harold enjoyed attending auctions, eating at Cahill's, Hardees and Mike's Grill, and going to the YMCA to visit with friends. Harold was a longtime member of Teamster's.
Harold married Dorothy Jean Hertig in November 1955 in San Diego, Calif.; she preceded him on June 25, 2010.
Harold is survived by his two sons, Mike (Cindy) Esworthy and Dan (Debbie) Esworthy; and five grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew) Pitts, Daniel (Bridgette) Esworthy, Amanda (Jason) Osborn, Jesse (Carrie) Esworthy and Kimberly (David) High; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Addison, Trevyn, Ashlynn, Carter, and one on the way; and his best friend, Don Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, William Esworthy; and a son, Steve Esworthy.
