URBANA — A St. Joseph man who admitted he had cannabis intended for sale in his car last spring has been sentenced to three months of home confinement.
Dean Kibler, 49, of the 100 block of Monroe, will have to wear an electronic ankle bracelet to monitor his movements after pleading guilty to unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis.
He was also sentenced to 30 months of probation and ordered to pay fines and costs of about $8,000.
Assistant State’s Attorney Scott Larson told Judge Harry Clem that police stopped Kibler on June 5 for an alleged vehicle code violation and that a canine alerted to the presence of cannabis in the car.
Police found just under two pounds of cannabis, which Kibler said he was selling in Champaign County on behalf of a person in California.
Larson said police also found $3,200 cash on Kibler.
