CHAMPAIGN – R. Dean Wisegarver, 85, of Champaign, formerly of DeLand, passed away at 12:53 a.m. Monday (Feb. 11, 2013) at Champaign Urbana Nursing and Rehab Center in Savoy.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 102, DeLand.
Dean was born May 29, 1927, to George and Marion Brophy Wisegarver, in Champaign. He married Betty Jean Baumgardner on Feb. 6, 1948, in Champaign. She preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 1979.
Surviving are one son, Stacy (Cindy) Wisegarver of Champaign; two daughters, Shari (Claron) Wheeler of Farmer City and Conni Ann (Kurt) Reitz of Waterloo; five grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and Tom Wisegarver.
Dean was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He farmed in DeLand with his brother George for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 102 in DeLand.
Dean was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
