CHAMPAIGN - A Peoria woman was injured when a wheel from another vehicle hit her sport utility vehicle on an interstate highway Sunday afternoon, forcing her into a median.
An Illinois State Police report said a 16-year-old, whose name was not released, was driving east on Interstate 74 west of Champaign when the front driver's wheel came off the Jeep Liberty. The wheel traveled across the road into the westbound lanes and hit Courtney Newgard's vehicle in the front.
Newgard's SUV then went into the median before coming to rest. Newgard, 26, was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where she was treated and released. The accident happened at 4:09 p.m.
The teen was not hurt, the report said.
"You picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel."
I laughed uproariously at this. Thank you. I needed it.
