BELOIT, Wis. – Bess Tilla Ozora Bauer, 90, of Beloit, Wis., went to be with the Lord on Thursday (Feb. 14, 2013) in her home, surrounded by all her loving children.
She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Champaign, the daughter of Ira and Barbara (Shott) Surber. Bess attended schools in Urbana. She married Robert J. Bauer in November 1964. He predeceased her on May 25, 2008.
Bess was employed by J.L. Clark in Rockford. She also dairy farmed with her husband, Robert. Bess was a hard worker and enjoyed fishing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Zoretta Hernandez of Nevada, Deanea (Robert) Soukup of Iowa, Ronald (Martha) Smith of Wisconsin, Renee (Kim) Robb of Nevada and Theresa Lindquester of Wisconsin; 20 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Olen (Mable) and Roy (Bernice); infant brother, Johnny; sisters, Velva (Ben) and Blanche (Roy); son-in-law, Jesse Hernandez II; and grandchildren, Jesse Hernandez III, Rhonda Lowe and Paige Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, IL 61802.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Mayfield, Ill.
