PENFIELD – Josephine San Miguel, 86, of Penfield passed away at 5:15 a.m. Monday (Feb. 18, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Josephine was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Mesilla, N.M., one of 10 children of Lorenzo Alderete and Atanacia Vasques. She married Raul San Miguel Sr. in 1943. She moved to Illinois in 1995.
Josephine is survived by two sons, Raul "Mike" San Miguel and his wife Agnes of Penfield, and Lorenzo San Miguel of Mesilla, N.M.; two grandsons, Michael (Becky) San Miguel of Potomac and Rudy San Miguel of New York City; and two great-grandchildren, Paige and Thomas of Potomac.
She is also survived by a brother, Albino Alderete of Fresno, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Penfield, the Penfield-Gifford American Legion Auxiliary, Penfield Quilters and the Penfield Senior Citizens.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at St. Lawrence Church in Penfield. Father Michael Menner will officiate. Burial will follow immediately in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials can be made to Country Health Care and Rehab Center, Gifford, or St. Lawrence Church.
