WESTVILLE — Mayor Jeff Ellis said CVS officials are expected to be at the village board's March 19 meeting to discuss a proposal for the vacant lot at the southwest corner of Illinois 1 and Main Street.
CVS operates a pharmacy in a leased building on the northeast corner of that intersection and purchased the vacant lot across from it a few years ago.
The current CVS/pharmacy covers about 8,500 square feet and has about 20 parking places. In March 2006, CVS submitted a building permit application to the village for the construction of a 12,000-square-foot store with about 70 parking places on the southwest corner, but the store was never built.
In other business:
— The board voted to spend about $7,300 to have new floor tiles placed throughout the village hall. There are asbestos floor tiles throughout village hall, some of which are worn and starting to break.
— Ellis said a parade up Illinois 1 may be added to the Independence Day festivities this year. Westville has had Labor Day parades for more than 100 years, but the parade on July 6 would be new, he said.
