WESTVILLE — School board members appointed Pam Dalenberg to serve as principal of Judith Giacoma Elementary School through at least the end of the 2013-14 school year on Wednesday.
Dalenberg, who has served as assistant principal at the school since 2011, was tapped to fill the vacancy that will occur when current principal Larry Eastin leaves to take a job out of the district. Dalenberg will officialy take over as principal on April 1.
A Georgetown native, Dalenberg came to the Westville school district as a social worker 12 years ago. She said the school has great kids and an amazing, dedicated staff, and that she is having an easy time transitioning into the principal position.
Dalenberg said she wants to continue the good programs in place at the school, and will work to help better align the curriculum of the school and to emphasize early literacy.
Superintendent Jim Owens said Dalenberg works well with the teachers at the school, and that she has good ideas.
