URBANA — University of Illinois police are looking for two men who robbed a man of cash on campus early Friday.
A UI police report said the man was walking in the 100 block of South Mathews Avenue in Urbana about 3:10 a.m. when a car stopped in the road and two men got out to ask for directions.
As the men got close to the pedestrian, one slapped him in the shoulder and demanded money. The man handed it over and the pair got back in the car, turned around and drove south, the wrong direction, on Mathews toward Green Street.
The victim didn't report the robbery until about noon Friday.
The robbers were described as being about college-age, each about 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing dark clothing.
The one who hit the victim had a white earring in each ear, short hair and large sideburns that possibly turned into a beard.
The car was described as an older, black four-door sedan.
