Spartans pitcher fans 12 in second no-hitter in the past week
St. Joseph-Ogden 14, Cissna Park 0. HUNTER HART threw his second no-hitter in the past week, and the visiting Spartans cruised to a win in six innings. Hart struck out 12 and walked four.
"He was tremendous with his fastball," Cissna Park coach DARRYL FOCKEN said. "We had very few good swings."
LeRoy 6, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 3. The visiting Panthers scored five runs in the top of the first inning and held on for the win, which was called after six innings because of rain. NIC STEVENS was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI for LeRoy while CHRIS REINHART struck out eight in six innings of work to record the win.
Clinton 14, Tuscola 4. Colton Reeves and Steven Evens drove in four runs apiece as the Maroons broke open a close game with a nine-run sixth inning.
Monticello 7, Meridian 0. KIA SMITH scored four goals, and the Sages cruised to a road victory. EMMA REINBOLD added three assists and a goal while MEGAN GARRETT came through with a goal and an assist. KELSEY KARBACK chipped in with a goal, and ELIZABETH McGILES made one save.
Armstrong-Potomac 5, Milford 4. The visiting Trojans took a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning and then held on for the Vermilion Valley Conference victory. MORGAN ZINDARS struck out nine in throwing a complete game for A-P while she helped herself out at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a run scored. MAKENZIE VINSON added two hits for A-P. MADISON LUECKE was 2 for 4 with a run scored, and ERIN McNALLY was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, two stolen bases and a double for the Bearcats.
Mahomet-Seymour 18, Central 2. Jessica Roberts, Ally Thornton and Kristen Belyea drove in three runs apiece to power the host Bulldogs, who bolted to an eight-run lead after the first inning. Kourteney Hollowell improved to 3-1, pitching a four-hitter.
LeRoy 3, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 1. HANNAH BOGLE had two hits and scored a run, and ANNIKA KOLIC struck out six for the visiting Panthers. ANNIE SCHULTZ had two hits for the Falcons, who committed three errors.
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 8, St. Thomas More 4. Sherrelle Coller and Emily Seegmiller each had three hits and two RBI to power the host Lancers. A-L/A-H's Kaitie Wildman and STM's Leah Allison each had nine strikeouts. Brooke Plotner had three RBI for the Sabers.
