DANVILLE — Social media is rapidly becoming an integral part of the small-business marketing plan.
The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Danville Area Community College and Downtown Danville Inc. will co-sponsor "Social Media and Your Business," a workshop that looks at the broad range of social media available — including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linked In and more — to help small businesses maintain contact with their customers.
Two sessions will be held in the computer center at DACC's Village Mall location, 2917 N Vermilion St., Danville. The first is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and the second is 8 to 10 a.m. on Thursday. The cost is $35 for each session.
Travis Brown, executive director of Historic Quincy Business District in Quincy, will be the presenter. Brown also is presenting the workshop at the National Main Streets Conference this year in New Orleans.
The Wednesday session will provide hands-on help in creating a Facebook page and a Twitter account for the attendee's business that evening. Thursday's session is an advanced session that will discuss how to better use current social media and explore other social media options.
Seminar participants are encouraged to bring electronic photos of their business, logos and other information they would like to post on a flash drive for use during the sessions.
To register, contact the Illinois Small Business Development Center at DACC by calling 442-7232 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org .
The first five businesses registered may receive a complimentary private analysis of their current social media presence.
