A roundup of Monday's highlights from area teams.
■ St. Thomas More 4, East Central 3. Storm Joop went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Noah Johnson (1-1) pitched two innings of shutout relief to lead the Sabers to a come-from-behind home win. STM scored twice in the seventh to pull out the victory.
■ Milford 6, Armstrong-Potomac 5. The Bearcats scored the winning run in the top of the ninth to edge the Trojans. Tanner Davenport doubled twice and drove in four runs for Milford. Lane Esteppe went 2 for 3 and Dylan Keen had three RBI for A-P.
■ St. Joseph-Ogden 9, Watseka 0. Hunter Hart struck out 11 and allowed one hit in six innings, leading the Spartans to a home win. Aaron Woller paced the SJ-O attack with three hits and four RBI.
■ Oakwood 4, Bismarck-Henning 3. Connor Jarling hit a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Comets. Davin Miles had a pair of sacrifice flies for Oakwood. Chase Swinford went 2 for 3 and Patrick Ganley homered for B-H.
■ Fieldcrest 7, GCMS 0. The visiting Falcons were limited to three hits in a shutout loss.
■ PBL 5, Monticello 4. Freshman Jonathon Walder went 3 for 3 and drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Panthers at the Corn Crib in Normal. Drew Schrodt scored the winning run after stealing second base and moving to third on a two-strike sacrifice bunt by Cody Bauman.
■ Rantoul 2, Georgetown-Ridge Farm 1. The Eagles scored in the bottom of the ninth to pull out an extra-inning victory. Rantoul starter Kyle Flessner allowed two hits and struck out 12 in eight innings. Chris Deaville went 3 for 5 with an RBI for the Eagles, who outhit the Buffaloes 10-2.
■ Hoopeston Area 2 Salt Fork 0. Aiden Berg pitched a six-hit shutout and drove in three to lead the Cornjerkers. Ross Learnard went 3 for 4 for the Storm.
■ Fisher 10 LeRoy 9. The Bunnies scored five runs in the top of the seventh to storm back for a win. Kyle Williams and Luke Harvey each had three hits and three RBI for Fisher. Nic Stevens had two hits, including a homer, and drove in five for the Panthers.
■ Clinton 9, Monticello 5. The Maroons, behind Emily Kroeger’s three-run home run, improved to 9-1 in the Okaw Valley Conference with a road win. Megan Tool, Morgan Hickman and Taylor Donelson each drove in two runs for Clinton. Ashley Gulliford went 2 for 3 with three RBI for the Sages.
■ Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 1, Shiloh 0. Kaitie Wildman pitched a one-hit shutout and Sherrelle Coller drove in the game’s only run for the host Lancers. Wildman finished with seven strikeouts and one walk.
■ Bismarck-Henning 6, Oakwood 4. Starting pitcher Emmie Hawkins belted a three-run home run and drove in four to lead the visiting Blue Devils.
■ Rantoul 15, Danville 5. Carson Church went 4 for 5 with two doubles and a home run, and Hannah Cargo homered and drove in four to lead the Eagles to a road win. Lindsey Loewenstein and Kylie Baxter each had two hits for the Vikings.
■ SJ-O 21-16, Watseka 0-2. The host Spartans swept two five-inning games behind Samantha Fleming’s four hits and four RBI. Kenzie James contributed four hits, including two doubles and a triple, for SJ-O.
■ Schlarman 6 Westville 4. The visiting Hilltoppers took a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh and held on for the win. Sydne Bryant had a double, three stolen bases and two runs for Schlarman. Bobbi Morris went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a pair of RBI for Westville.
■ Armstrong-Potomac 7, Milford 4. Johanna Bruens drove in three runs and Megan Cain went 3 for 4 with an RBI to lead the Trojans to a home win. Erin McNally doubled and homered for Milford.
■ Salt Fork 19-12, Hoopeston Area 4-2. Jenna Bryant homered twice and drove in seven for the Storm in its Game 1 win. In the nightcap, Nicole Weston had four RBI for Salt Fork.
In girls’ soccer
■ Danville First Baptist 3, Urbana Uni High JV 1. Elizabeth Randolph and Kimmy Montgomery scored, and Ashley Greazer converted on a penalty kick to lead the Knights to a victory.
In boys’ track & field
■ At Paxton. Eric Rydell (high jump) and Matt Knipfer (pole vault) won individual events and Cole Johnson anchored a first-place 1,600-meter relay performance to lead St. Joseph-Ogden to the title of the Sangamon Valley Conference meet. Nate Phillips, Kyle Smith and Nick Poff joined Johnson on the Spartans’ winning relay. Nick Hess (1,600, 3,200) won two individual events for third-place St. Thomas More.
■ At Gibson City. Host GCMS swept all four relay races and rolled to victory in a four-team meet. Christian Glascock placed first in the 300 hurdles and the triple jump for the Falcons. Zeke Pliura (1,600, 3,200) was a double winner for LeRoy.
■ At Moweaqua. Vinny Strack won the 110 hurdles and anchored the first-place 400 relay to help Monticello edge Shelbyville by four points for the Okaw Valley Conference meet title. Austin Eckerty, Matt Justus and Ryan Donohue joined Strack on the winning relay. Adam Auten (discus) also contributed first-place points for the Sages.
■ At Arcola. Omar Rojas, Wyatt Fishel and anchor Zach Moutria ran on winning 400 and 800 relay teams to lead the host Purple Riders to the title of the Little Okaw Valley Conference meet. Ashton Wilson (high jump), Brad Nall (110 hurdles) and Alex Johns (800) also contributed wins for Arcola. Double winners included Austin Hubbart (100, 200) and Ryan Pearce (shot put, discos) of Villa Grove; and Jeffrey Earnst (1,600, 3,200) and Jordan Feagin (long jump, triple jump) of runner-up Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.
In girls’ track & field
■ At Gibson City. GCMS placed first in three relays and won five individual events to capture a four-team meet. Mikayla Baillie (long jump), Tori Gaesser (high jump), Lauren Nagle (100), Allison Walton (pole vault) and Julia Bleich (triple jump) were winners for the Falcons. Kelsey Walker (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and Jess Clarke (1,600, 3,200) were double winners for runner-up LeRoy.
■ At Catlin. Oakwood/Armstrong-Potomac won two relays and added a victory in the triple jump by Makayla Gayler en route to the title of the Vermilion Valley Conference meet. Jenny Kimbro (long jump, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) of Salt Fork won three events. Abby Nicholson (shot put, discus) and Madie Brown (1,600, 3,200) of Hoopeston Area, Mary Bass (100, 200) of Bismarck-Henning, and Jordan Morganski (high jump, 800) of Schlarman were double winners.
■ At Arcola. Taylor Edwards won three individual events and anchored a first-place relay to lead Arcola to the title of the Little Okaw Valley Conference meet. Edwards captured the 400, 800 and high jump, and joined Rachel Fishel, Klaire Karmazinas and Erin Lindenmeyer on the winning 3,200 relay. Samantha ReeCe (100, 200) was a double winner for the Purple Riders, who finished 42 points in front of runner-up Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond. Kaley Stanley (100 hurdles, triple jump) won two individual events and ran on the first-place 400 relay for A-L/A-H.
In boys’ tennis
■ Champaign Central 5, Urbana Uni High 4. Nikhil Thope won singles and doubles matches to help the Maroons edge the Illineks. Alex Mestre and Edo Roth of Uni earned wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and combined for a victory at No. 1 doubles.
