URBANA — A Champaign teen found riding in a stolen vehicle last December has been sentenced to two years of probation.
Clarence Faust, 18, of the 3200 block of Kimberly Drive, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle before Judge Harry Clem Thursday.
Faust admitted that on Dec. 13, he was a passenger in a Ford Explorer that had been stolen earlier in the day from outside a Champaign business.
Urbana police found the Explorer later that day.
Assistant State's Attorney Scott Larson said Faust had no prior convictions.
Co-defendant Trenton Jones, 19, of the 1000 block of Stratford Drive, Champaign, pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen vehicle on April 11 and was also sentenced to two years of probation.
The same charge against a third defendant, Dehari Banks, 18, of the 900 block of North Division Street, Urbana, was dismissed in April. Assistant State's Attorney Lindsey Clark said Banks had been picked up later in the day by the other men and apparently had no knowledge that the SUV was stolen.
