CHAMPAIGN — A portion of Interstate 57 will be closed on three nights this week because of the Windsor Road bridge replacement project.
The bridge carrying Windsor Road over Interstate 57 will require night closures on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights for the setting of bridge beams.
The interstate highway will be closed between Monticello Road and Interstate 72 beginning at 10 p.m. on those nights. I-57 will reopen the following morning by 6 a.m.
Northbound interstate traffic will be detoured using Monticello Road east to U.S. 45, U.S. 45 north to Springfield Avenue, Springfield Avenue west to Mattis Avenue, Mattis Avenue north to Church Street and Church Street west back to I-57.
Southbound interstate traffic will be detoured using University Avenue east to Mattis Avenue, Mattis Avenue south to Springfield Avenue, Springfield Avenue east to U.S. 45, U.S. 45 south to Monticello Road and Monticello Road west back to I-57.
The overall project has an anticipated completion date of Nov. 1, 2013, weather permitting. The contractor for the $2,376,785 project is O'Neil Bros. Construction.
