CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign school board approved the hiring of two assistant principals and an assistant coordinator for its career education program at its Monday meeting.
The board hired Jefferson Middle School teachers Carah Ferrill as assistant principal at Bottenfield Elementary and Jessica Pitcher as assistant principal at Kenwood Elementary, respectively.
The board also hired CloLeeta Simpson as assistant district coordinator for the Education to Careers and Professions programs.
The board also agreed to buying its food via a co-op of school districts through a company called HPS. The school district expects to spend $1.08 million and save at least $49,000 next year and could save more if it receives rebates and incentives for things like paying its bill promptly and using the company for its food processing.
