Governor Pat Quinn has signed a bill that includes an incentive package aimed at trying to get a chemical company to locate a plant in Douglas County.
Quinn signed the legislation Thursday morning that includes several economic development projects in the state.
State Representative Adam Brown of Champaign said the measure provides an incentive package of $30 million to Delaware-based Cronus Chemicals in an effort to attract the company to build the plant near Tuscola instead of choosing a site in Iowa.
The $1.2 billion plant would create 2,000 construction jobs and 150 to 200 full time jobs after construction is completed.
Meanwhile, the bill will also push forward long-stalled plans for a third Chicago area airport near Peotone and a DePaul University sports complex.
