Governor Pat Quinn has announced more than $50 million in grant funding for Chicago area colleges and universities.
Some of the schools to receive the money include DePaul University, which will receive nearly $8 million for a new academic building, while Northwestern University will receive more than $7 million for a technological institute.
The money is part of nearly $55 million that Governor Pat Quinn announced on Wednesday for 27 private colleges and universities in the Chicago area.
Quinn said Illinois has to make sure that it invests in education.
The funding is part of $90 million included in this fiscal year's budget for the state's capital construction program to address the needs of private colleges and universities.
