Champaign city leaders are inviting the community to come together on Tuesday for an annual event that takes a stand against crime and promotes a strong relationship between community members.
National Night Out is in its 30th year, and Champaign Neighborhood Coordinator John Ruffin said the city has been involved for about 20 to 25 years.
Ruffin said an event like this provides so many different advantages.
Ruffin said each of the neighborhoods involved will be doing something that is unique to their area. So he said there will be a wide variety of events going on, including food, music and other entertainment.
National Night Out festivities will run from 4 to 8 p.m. at various locations in Champaign. For more details on an event in your area, contact your neighborhood watch group leaders. If you don't have a neighborhood watch group, you're invited to a live entertainment event at Douglass Park from 6 to 8 p.m.
