A local senator said if term limits come to the state legislature, they should apply to the leaders of the chambers more so than to regular senators and representatives.
The comments from Mahomet Republican Chapin Rose come as GOP Governor candidate Bruce Rauner is pushing to get a term limits question on the November 2014 ballot.
Rose pointed to two lawmakers, retired Representative Bill Black and current House Speaker Michael Madigan, as good and bad examples of someone who sticks around the capitol for a long time.
Rose added that even though he thinks his idea for term limiting leadership is the best option, he does support Rauner's proposal for term limits which would limit all state lawmakers to eight years in office.
Rose made the comments Thursday on the WDWS Morning Show.
