DANVILLE — Two physicians with Christie Clinic's Obstetrics and Gynecology Department will discuss robotic surgical options for women's health issues at an event called, "Let's Talk, Ladies."
The event will be held Sept. 24 in Conference Rooms 2 and 3 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Doors open at 5 p.m.
It is free, but space is limited so registration is required. Call 1-877-737-INFO (4636) to register.
Participants will enjoy wine and snacks and be entered to win several prizes including a wine gift basket, a pedicure gift certificate and Festival of Trees special event tickets.
Several OB/GYNs on Presence United Samaritans' medical staff are now performing robotic-assisted procedures for hysterectomies, ovarian cyst removal and endometriosis. The medical center is one of several Presence Health hospitals to recently acquire the latest da Vinci Si robotic surgical system.
Dr. Terence Young will discuss robotic-assisted hysterectomies that are available in Danville, and Dr. Michael Smith will discuss robotic-assisted prolapse surgery and single-site hysterectomy currently available at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Smith is one of only a handful of surgeons in the country to perform this virtually scarless procedure.
Robotic-assisted surgery offers many patient benefits compared with traditional surgery including shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery, significantly less pain and smaller scars, Presence Health officials said. The robotic system provides surgeons with unparalleled precision, dexterity and control for better outcomes.
