At Metamora. ALEX KEEBLE was second, JACKSON POWELL seventh and WILLIAM WOLF eighth as Mahomet-Seymour won the 22-team boys’ race at the Runnin’ Red Invitational. COREY WHITE was 12th for ninth-place Champaign Central. Central’s HANNAH WRIGHT (18:04) placed 12th as the Maroons finished 14th in the girls’ race.
At Toledo. Tuscola’s ERIC PONDER won the boys’ race, Monticello’s Matthew Norvell was second and Unity’s Andrew Warnes was third at the Cumberland Invitational. The Sages won the team race, followed by Unity and St. Joseph-Ogden.
In the girls’ race, SJ-O finished first ahead of Unity and Uni High. Uni’s Annemarie Michael placed second, Monticello’s Emily Foley was third and SJ-O’s Alyssa Pridemore was fourth.
Central 3, Normal West 0. RYAN CHALIFOUX made eight saves and David Zenge, Emmanuel Komba and Jaedon Rodgers had goals for the visiting Maroons.
Springfield 2, Urbana 0. The Tigers fell behind 2-0 at halftime and couldn’t recover in nonconference action.
At Jacksonville. SAM PLUMMER scored twice off assists from NATHANIEL HINDS and AIDAN REILLY as Centennial beat Bloomington in the third-place game at the eight-team Jacksonville tournament. OSCAR ALMARAZ and NATE BLOCK combined for the shutout. In the semifinals, the Chargers (7-8-2) lost to eventual tourney champ Rochester 3-0.
At Urbana. GABI RAJIC won the 200 IM and 100 back to lead Urbana to third place at the Tiger Invitational. DOMINIQUE ALLEN won diving for the Tigers. Other area winners included Centennial’s SARA REGAN (100 fly) and ANITA BERA (100 breast).
At Champaign. Uni High won a four-team meet behind first-place finishes from MADDIE NELSON (200 free, 100 back), JIA CURRY-BILD (200 IM), CLAIRE MICHAEL (100 free, 100 breast) and CLAIRE DICKERSON (500 free). Oakwood diver PRESLIE FLETCHER finished first.
At Hutsonville. Lauren Moses had 46 kills as Shiloh went 2-2 and placed fourth.
