A spokesman for Cronus Chemicals wants to clarify statements that Illinois' Governor made while in Urbana on Monday about a fertilizer plant that could end up near Tuscola in Douglas County.
Governor Pat Quinn told reporters on Monday that Illinois was competing with states other than Iowa for the $1.2 billion plant.
But, Dave Lundy of Cronus said that the leading states continue to be Illinois and Iowa. Lundy said that other states were looked at in the past, but Illinois and Iowa have been and remain the focus of the company. Lundy said Cronus will make a decision on a site as soon as possible.
This summer, Quinn signed an incentive package of $30 million to try to entice the company to build the plant near Tuscola.
