Beat writer Marcus Jackson's three stars — in addition to Nnanna Egwu — from Thursday night's Orange and Blue Scrimmage.
Nnanna Egwu wasn’t the only Illini to stand out at Thursday’s Orange and Blue Scrimmage. Here’s a look at three others who starred at State Farm Center.
Rayvonte Rice — The Champaign native netted 17 points. He scored in the post, from behind the arc, in the lane and at the free throw line. His diversity is a welcomed addition.
Mike LaTulip — Former Illini D.J. Richardson tweeted Thursday that the walk-on is the best shooter in the Big Ten. Bold statement, but the sophomore scored 15 points and went 10 for 10 from the free throw line.
Ahmad Starks — The Oregon State transfer dazzled the fans early in the only opportunity they’ll see him this season, breaking down defenders, getting to the lane and knocking down open jumpers for six points and a pair of assists.
