DANVILLE — Friends of a 19-year-old Westville woman who was killed in a car accident earlier this month are holding a benefit to help with her funeral expenses.
The benefit for the family of Nicole "Nykky" Harris will be held on Saturday at Ike's Bar & Grill, 2526 Georgetown Road, Danville. It will begin at 1 p.m.
There will be entertainment, raffle drawings, an auction and food for sale, among other things.
Miss Harris was killed in a single-vehicle rollover that occurred early morning on Oct. 12 on 1100 North near 1460 East, southwest of Westville. She was a passenger in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee that was being driven by 23-year-old Jake Erickson of Richmond, Ky.
The accident also injured Erickson and the two other passengers — Aissa Wright, 21, of Georgetown, and Michael Francis, 26, of Westville.
According to a police report, the Jeep was heading west on 1100 North, also known as Westville Lane, when it failed to make curve, left the road and rolled over. The occupants were thrown from the vehicle.
Authorities are still looking into whether alcohol was involved.
Miss Harris was the daughter of Trish Anderson Harris and Marcus and Amanda Shelby Harris, all of Westville. She recently received her GED with honors and was going to cosmetology school.
Trish Harris said her daughter did not have any life insurance, and that all of the proceeds will be put toward funeral and burial expenses.
