GIFFORD — Gifford homeowners and renters are invited to attend a community meeting later this week on rebuilding Gifford following the Nov. 17 tornado.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 26 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gifford.
"There has been a great deal of discussion around town about how do we rebuild Gifford," said Christina Gann, operations manager at the Tornado Relief Center at the church. "We've also had quite a few organizations and individuals ask how do we help rebuild Gifford. We may have the beginnings of an answer to both questions."
Gann said the tornado relief center may be partnering with multiple organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial.
"There may be help both in repairs as well as rebuilding of multiple homes," Gann said. "Help might include financial assistance, supplies or labor.
"But before we can make definite plans, we have to know what the needs are. "
Gann said renters are invited as well as homeowners because there may be programs available helping renters to become homeowners.
Gann said meeting organizers also want to hear from those affected about their needs.
