One of the survivors of a deadly fire at Seton Hall University more than a decade ago is expected to speak on Saturday night on the University of Illinois campus.
The Illinois Fire Service Institute will host a special presentation with Alvaro Llanos, who was one of the survivors from the fire at Seton Hall in 2000. Llanos and his roommate Shawn Simons both survived the blaze. The fire injured 58 and killed three students.
Llanos said his goal is to push fire safety and to make sure other burn survivors have the information they need to get through their recovery process.
Llanos will talk about his experiences and his long-term recovery, and the presentation will include the film "After the Fire," which is a documentary about the fire at Seton Hall and what Llanos and Simons have gone through since that time.
The event is at 7:30 Saturday night at the Illinois Fire Service Institute. It's is open to the public for a $10 admission fee.
