CHAMPAIGN — The fund-raiser Shave for the Brave will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at B.J. Grand Salon & Spa, 3006 Crossing Ct.
Participants will raise money by having their heads shaved in memory of Danny Nardi, who died at age 10 on March 7, 2013. Stylists at B.J. Grand Salon will donate their time to support Danny's Fund, a local organization dedicated to fighting childhood cancer.
Danny lost his hair, not once, but many times, during his five-year fight against neuroblastoma.
Local corporate sponsors Jimmy John's and Pepsi have each donated $1,000; event organizers seek additional sponsors and can be contacted at email@example.com .
The fundraising goal is $5,000; all donations will go to Danny's Fund, a subsidiary of I Back Jack, a nonprofit that provides financial support for pediatric cancer research.
Hair also will be donated via the event to Locks of Love.
