OAKWOOD — Officials hope to name a new Oakwood school district superintendent before Karen Perry steps down at the end of the school year.
Perry announced in January that her second year as Oakwood schools superintendent would be her last, citing personal reasons for her decision.
With the deadline for applications coming up at noon Monday, Oakwood school board President Sue Johnson said she hopesthe board can identify and interview candidates in the coming weeks, and name a new superintendent by the end of April.
Johnson's target date for the new superintendent to start is July 1.
Johnson, who was on the school board when Perry was hired, said superintendent searches are always time-consuming because it's so important to get the right person.
"We expect the best for the students, the staff and the community," she said.
According to the district's website, the salary and benefits package for the position will be up to $140,000.
Oakwood is a pre-kindergarten-through-12 district, with about 1,024 students at the three schools.
