Attached is the most recent arrest data for Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day.
A total of 271 “Notices to Appear” (NTA) were issued. Champaign Police issued (238), Urbana Police PD (21), and the U of IL Department of Public Safety issued (12).
A total of (115) NTA’s were issued for “Minor in Possession” (MIP), and (100) for Public Possession.
PRO ambulance had 40 calls for service with 27 transports; Arrow had 1 transport, and Carle Hospital had 17 walk-ins seeking medical attention.
15 offenders were taken to the Champaign County Jail. Illinois State Police made four of the arrests, which were alcohol related.
Illinois State Police at Pesotum said they had extra troopers on traffic details on Interstates 57, 72 and 74, as well as state and U.S. highways around the UI campus between Thursday and Saturday.
That stepped-up enforcement resulted in 71 tickets for speeding and 33 warnings; four tickets for no seat belts and one warning; four tickets for distracted driving and three warnings; six tickets for other alcohol-related offenses; 15 tickets for other vehicle code violations and 41 warnings.
