URBANA — A man who broke into an ex-girlfriend's home intent on hurting her has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Archie Phillips, 26, for whom no address was listed, pleaded guilty Monday before Judge Tom Difanis to residential burglary.
He admitted that on March 9, he entered a residence in the 2000 block of Philo Road and yelled at the woman living there that he was going to beat her up.
In exchange for his plea, other counts of domestic battery and criminal trespass were dismissed.
Assistant State's Attorney Troy Lozar said Phillips had prior convictions for domestic battery, criminal trespass to land and criminal trespass to residence.
Phillips had just received probation for the criminal trespass to residence case, which involved the same victim, in December. That probation was terminated unsuccessfully in light of his prison sentence.
