A 59-year-old Georgetown man will stand trial on charges that he sexually abused two girls under the age of 13 between March 1 and 15.
Lenard G. Hale faces one count of indecent solicitation of a child, a Class 1 felony; two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under 13, Class 2 felonies; and two counts of exploitation of a child under 13, Class 4 felonies.
Hale waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Vermilion County Circuit Court earlier this week. His jury trial was set for June 9.
If convicted of the charges, Hale could face anywhere from one to 15 years in prison.
The Vermilion County sheriff's department launched an investigation after being contacted by Hale's family members, according to Capt. Rod Kaag.
"He gave an initial statement about the abuse ... which led to the investigation," Kaag said.
Kaag said both girls are under the age of 10. He declined to be specific about the abuse allegations.
Hale is free from the Vermilion County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
