■ At Unity. St. Joseph-Ogden’s boys’ team won the Unity Invitational with 127 points. Paxton-Buckley-Loda was the runner-up (97). Unity (90), Rantoul (78) and St. Thomas More (63.5) rounded out the top five.
SJ-O had first-place finishes in the 800-meter relay (1 minute, 35.58 seconds) and 1,600-meter relay (3:33.87). Orion Ciota won the 100-meter dash (11.53 seconds) for the Spartans. Watseka’s Austin Kidwell won the 200-meter dash (23.66) and the 400 meters (51.99). Rantoul’s Quinton Crawley won the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches) and the triple jump (43-6). Andrew Warnes won the 800-meter run (2:01.05) for Unity.
■ At Gibson City. On the strength of four runner-up finishes and four third-place showings, the Falcons didn’t win a single event but still managed to win their 17-team invitational.
Annemarie Michael won the 800 and ran a leg on the winning 1,600 sprint medley relay for third-place Urbana Uni High.
Fourth-place St. Joseph-Ogden was led klby Alyssa Pridemore’s win in the 1,600.
Emily Allhands (shot put) and Meegan Massey (discus) helped Watseka finish fifth.
Unity, which was sixth, got individual wins from Tayor Renfroe in the 3,200 and Nicole Bagwell in the pole vault.
Mary Bass won the 100 and 200 for Bismarck-Henning.
Oakwood, which was eighth, won the 400 relay.
Other area winners were St. Thomas More’s Randa Harshbarger (long jump) and Rantoul’s Mercedes Porter (triple jump).
■ At Mattoon. James Cobbs finished second in the 100-meter final (11.64) and triple hump (42-81/4) for Urbana. Central’s Zakkori Johnson finished second in the 400 meters (52.81). The Maroons won the 4x800 relay (8:25.21). Darrian Rose won the shot put (46-9) for Danville. Denzel Smith placed second in the high jump (5-10) for the Vikings.
■ At Clinton. Clinton won its own invite, scoring 134.5 points. Monticello was second (125). Becca Anderson won the 100-meter final (12.73) and 400 meters (1:01.63) for Clinton. Erin West won the 200 meters (26.03). Clinton had first-place finishes in the 4x100-meter relay (51.00) and 4x200- meter relay (1:52.27). Olivia Ness won the 100-meter hurdles (16.20) for the Sages. Taylor Helenthal finished second in the 3,200 meters (12:47.60).
In boys’ tennis
■ At Champaign. The Chargers defeated St. Jacob Triad 9-0. Andrew Scaggs won his singles match 6-3, 6-0. Matthew Scaggs won his singles match 6-0, 6-0. Andrew Scaggs and Matthew Scaggs won their doubles match 6-1, 7-5. Wyatt Small and Max Zheng finished the sweep with a doubles victory (6-3, 6-1).
In bass fishing
■ At Clinton Lake. Monticello’s first team won the bass fishing sectional. The Sages’ total was 18 pounds, 4 ounces.
