The 30th annual Champaign County Humane Society Giant Garage Sale is coming right up.
URBANA — If you want to de-clutter or otherwise clean your home, you may donate your unwanted items to the 30th annual Champaign County Humane Society Giant Garage Sale.
Volunteers will accept good, usable, unbroken items at Kesler Hall at the Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana from Thursday through Sunday. The drop-off hours: noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
What will be accepted? Clothing, books, jewelry, housewares, small appliances, toys, tools, gardening supplies, holiday decorations, sports equipment, animal-care items and other treasures.
Not accepted: large pieces of furniture, large kitchen appliances, windows, doors, tires, paint, chemicals and encyclopedia sets.
The sale will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 23 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 24. A $2 admission fee is charged from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 23 only. A $3 bag sale runs from 3 to 6 p.m. May 24. A giveaway of leftovers is set for 10 a.m. to noon May 25, with a $1 admission.
In its 30-year history, the sale has generated a whisker under a $250,000, said Mare Payne, its chairwoman.
Volunteers are needed. An orientation for new volunteers will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. For information, call the shelter at 344-7297.
