PAXTON — The board has raised the salaries of three elected officials for the next four years.
The sheriff's salary will climb from $56,000 to $59,000, effective Dec. 1, 2014 — plus a $2,000-a-year raise for the final three years of his next four-year term.
The board also raised the treasurer's salary and county clerk's salary, from $51,000 to $52,000, effective with the 2014-15 fiscal year, and by an additional $1,000 for the final three years of their respective four-year terms.
Sheriff Mark Doran and County Clerk Linda Kellerhals are unopposed in this November's general election. Also unopposed is Penny Stevens, who is seeking to replace retiring Treasurer Judy Hastings.
Kellerhals said state law required the board to decide on the raises at least 180 days in advance of the start of their terms.
