URBANA — A man was arrested in Urbana Tuesday on a number of weapons and drug offenses.
Urbana police Sgt. Dan Morgan said his department’s street crimes unit had obtained a search warrant for an apartment in the 1000 block of Kerr Avenue, where Kenon Finley, 22, was believed to be living.
Finley and a woman were home when officers searched about 1:30 p.m. He was arrested; she was not.
Morgan said officers found a loaded sawed-off 12-gauge pump shotgun, 12-gauge ammunition, $800 cash, several rounds of .40-caliber ammunition, a loaded .40-caliber Glock handgun that had been recently reported as stolen from Champaign, an extended magazine for .40-caliber ammunition, about two ounces of cannabis, packaging materials, and scales.
Police said Finley had been the subject of an ongoing investigation. He was arrested on preliminary felony charges of armed violence, possession of a stolen firearm and cannabis, and unlawful use of weapons.
He was expected to be formally charged Wednesday afternoon.
