Wednesday at the tweetup, someone attending asked me if I might know where to recycle paint locally.
I had no idea, so I asked the newsroom's recycling guru, copy editor Aubrie Williams, if she knew. I thought I'd pass it along, in case anyone else has paint they need to recycle:
"Around here, you can't really recycle it so much as find someone ELSE who wants it. The pamphlet I received from the City of Urbana gives information for the Habitat for Humanity ReStore . It's AMAZING what they take. I'd go once a week to check out all their great stuff if I could find the time!
Also, check out some suggestions for reusing here.
Other than that, you can only dispose of it. But don't just drop it in the (garbage) can! Let it air dry or combine it with cat litter or some other absorbing substance until it's completely dry, then toss in the garbage. I hate that, but not much of a choice."
I think Aubrie should have her own blog about recycling, but until then, I'm happy to pass along her expertise.
